My work stems from a continuous sense of wonder about nature and life. I have a strong fascination with animals, nature, and the act of collecting. For this reason, I often work with collected objects such as bones, fossils, and other organic materials. To me, these objects are more than physical remains; they carry stories of time, transience, and history. By collecting, examining, and photographing them, I continually discover new details and perspectives. Rather than trying to find definitive answers, I aim to create space for curiosity and wonder. My work is a way of continuing to look, discover, and be amazed by the world around me.

Collecting Life

As a child, I found a mammoth fossil on the beach. I was raised with the religious belief that the Earth was created and is no more than 6,000 years old. An expert told me that my discovery came from an extinct animal that lived on Earth more than 40,000 years ago. This discovery raised questions about my worldview and the origins of life. In Collecting Life, I visit people like mammoth collectors, artists who bring extinct animals back to life, and (amateur) paleontologists. Driven by my own fascination, I explore how people collect and preserve the past, and how they give it new meaning.
