Ever since I was young, I have loved words and images, and I enjoy making things with my hands. For me, photography is a way of untangling my thoughts and bringing my rich inner world to the surface. I often seek out quiet places where nature is not merely a subject but a language, and I strike a balance between order and rough edges, perfection and chaos. I am fascinated by natural materials and traditional craft techniques, but I also explore digital possibilities for image creation. Driven by a desire for alienation, photography for me shifts from capturing to creating: I capture a fragment of reality and then turn it into my own, sometimes imaginary, world.

In my project, I draw from my feelings of no longer being needed as a mother. After having children in the house for over 22 years, my main caring role is now over. I look back with a sense of wistfulness on our busy family life with three children. During that time, I often longed for freedom. Now that I have it, I feel a sense of emptiness and loss. Who am I now? What defines me? And what does my future hold? From the raw, bleak void of this loss, I look towards the horizon and set out in search of light and colour. I’m finding new meaning in my life; there is a sense of movement, and nature’s cycle is racing on. The landscape has changed and is still somewhat abstract, but the emptiness is giving way to space.

Here, somewhere in between past and present I try to land again within myself.
